一氧化铅化学式PbO。有两种变体:一种是红色四方晶体,又称密陀僧;熔点886°C, 沸点1472°C,密度9.53克/厘米3。另一种是黄色正交晶体,又称铅黄;熔点 886°C,沸点1472°C,密度 8.0克/厘米3。两者的转变点为 488.5°C,低于该温度时,转化作用较缓慢。两者都难溶于水。一氧化铅能溶于酸,生成铅(Ⅱ)盐;也能微溶于强碱溶液,生成铅(Ⅱ)酸盐。在加热下,一氧化铅易被氢、碳、一氧化碳等还原成金属铅。一氧化铅通常可由空气氧化熔融的铅来制备,低于470°C时得到红色四方晶体。在铅(Ⅱ)盐溶液中加入适量的碱或氨水,产生白色的氢氧化铅沉淀,然后在低于100°C温度下使氢氧化铅失水,可得一氧化铅黄色正交晶体;在 100°C失水,可得红色四方晶体。一氧化铅可用于冶炼金属铅,制造铅玻璃和制备其他铅化合物。一氧化铅还用于填充铅蓄电池的栅状铅片电极。在用干性植物油制造油漆时,一氧化铅可做催化剂,促进油氧化干结。烤干的密陀僧与无水甘油混合而成的"铅甘油"油灰,可粘合金属、玻璃和石头等。
