埋刮板输送机固接在牵引链上的刮板在封闭的料槽中输送散状物料的输送机。这种输送机的牵引链和刮板都埋入物料中，刮板只占料槽的一部分断面，物料占料槽的大部分断面。它能水平、倾斜或垂直输送物料。水平输送时，所用刮板为平条形，利用埋入散料的链条和刮板对散料层的切割力大于槽壁对散料阻力的原理，使散料随刮板一起向前移动，此时移动的料层高度与槽宽之比在一定的比值范围之内，物料流是稳定的。需要进行垂直输送的埋刮板输送机(见图), 采用U、O、H等轮廓形的刮板，利用散料在轮廓形刮板的空隙间的起拱原理(见料仓装置)和刮板的上推力，使散料随刮板一起向上输送。料槽的断面与刮板的外廓一致。埋刮板输送机的优点是输送线路布置较灵活，能构成复合线路；能垂直输送物料,体积小；密封性好,有利于环境保护；可输送易燃、易爆和温度较高的物料；可在多处装料。但牵引链关节磨损较大，不能输送粘性的、易结团的和磨琢性大的散料。输送能力可达 1000米3/时左右。输送距离可达 150米。埋刮板输送机大多用于化工、食品等部门，并向大输送能力发展。
