热泵蒸发将蒸发操作产生的二次蒸汽绝热压缩(见热力学过程),然后返回蒸发器作为加热蒸汽,以提高热能利用率的一种蒸发操作(见图)。蒸发产生的二次蒸汽温位较低,但含有大量潜热。将二次蒸汽用压缩机绝热压缩提高温位后,可以送回原蒸发器的加热室用作热源。蒸汽压缩要消耗压缩功,但从压缩后的蒸汽中可回收更多的热量。回收的热量与所消耗的压缩功的比值,称为致热系数。蒸汽压缩所消耗的压缩功与压缩比(加热蒸汽压力与二次蒸汽压力的比值)有关。二次蒸汽与加热蒸汽的温差越小,所需压缩比越小,致热系数就越大。因此,热泵蒸发适用于沸点升高不大的有机溶液或稀溶液的蒸发,而且蒸发器应具有较大的传热面积。二次蒸汽的压缩方法是:①机械压缩,一般采用轴流式或离心式压缩机(见流体输送机械);②用蒸汽喷射泵,以高压蒸汽为喷射动力,将部分二次蒸汽压缩,混合后一同进入蒸发器的加热室作为热源。蒸汽喷射泵的效率很低,仅用于小型蒸发装置。机械压缩式热泵蒸发,除启动阶段需要生蒸汽加热外,正常运转时不再需要生蒸汽及冷却水,故用于海洋船舶及缺水地区的淡水供应。(见彩图)
