从玛雅遗址中的考古发现来看，其文明程度的确是超越时代，大多人认为其归结于其它未知的文明产物。
一、精确的天文历法
考古发现在几千年前，玛雅人就已经推算出了地球年为365.2420天，这个数字与我们现代测算的365.2422天，仅仅相差0.0002天，也就是说两者在五千年内误差才仅为一天。
他们不止测算出了地球年，还测算出了金星年为584天，与现代测算结果基本一致，五十年内两者误差仅为七秒。
考古学家还发现，玛雅人使用的是一种特殊的历法，这种历法完全不同于地球上其他各文明，它更像是一些未知文明。
不仅如此他们使用的文字是三维的，阅读时除了要从左到右、从上到下、还要由远及近，这不禁让人感到离奇。
另外使用的数字采用的是二十进位，演算可沿用到400万年以后，这样庞大的天文数字，据现代研究发现只有航天上才用得上。

二、帕伦克石板和火箭浮雕
这其实是两幅画面。
火箭浮雕图是考古者在一块铭碑上发现的，上面刻画着一副类似现代火箭的机器腾空的画面，机器后面喷射出的火焰清晰可见。
帕伦克石板上刻画场景更是令人瞠目结舌：一人带着头盔，正在操作一架类似我们口中外星文明的机器，机器上可以清晰的看到方向杆、控制杆、进出气软管以及各种仪表。这块石板被发现时被当做机密送往了美国国家航天研究所，研究所里的专家无不感到震惊，他们认为石板上描绘的正是一幅宇航员驾驶者飞行器在太空航行的画面。这是有人故意为之还是其它原因？成了当今的未解之谜之一。
